Real Milk . . . Raw Milk through Farm Shares & Direct Sales (Oct. 30, 2004) Join us at this program for farmers and consumers interested in increasing access to traditional, minimally processed foods. Arthur Lups of Pleroma Farm in Hudson, NY, Gina Robinson of Rose Hill Dairy in Hardwick, MA, and other special guests will discuss how they have realized their commitment to providing real milk to interested families and individuals. (They make available unpasteurized, unhomogenized, whole milk from grass-fed cows.) Participants will learn about cow share/farm share programs and micro-dairies, the opportunity real milk sales offer for dairy farms, and the benefits of raw milk consumption. We will also get an update on the status of "raw" milk in NY and other states, and consider both exciting and troubling developments with cow and farm share programs around the U.S. This program will take place at Hawthorne Valley Farm in Harlemville, NY (Columbia County) from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. (Lunch available at the farm store or bring a bag lunch.) An optional visit to Pleroma Farm, 25 minutes away, will follow. A sliding scale fee will cover costs and provide seed money for a fund to safeguard real milk in New York State. To learn about the Campaign for Real Milk , see www.RealMilk.com |
